Tonight while Dee and I were in the shower, our kitten-Sid-decided to pull the screen out of the kitchen window. In the process, he either accidentally or on purpose wound up going out the window. A two story window.
We got out of the shower and were looking for him everywhere in the apartment and then I saw the screen laying on the window ledge and I got a sick feeling in my gut. Dee looked out the window and saw him crouched in the alleyway crying. I immediately rushed out of the apartment and around the side of the building to where he was. I thought he was going to be all fucked up, I mean I know cats can survive some long falls what with how they’re built to always land on their feet and all, but he’s just a ten week old kitten. Still, I walked towards him and was like “Here Sid, here kitty,kitty..” and he let out a burly maow and walked towards me. I picked him up and held him to my chest, whereby he dug his claws into my shirt and started mewling and purring.
I brought him back up to the apartment and Dee was already on the phone with her mom telling her about Sid’s Great Leap, and her mom said just watch him and make sure he can walk alright, and that he doesn’t have any seizures. The cat is walking fine, well at least he was till he curled up in Dee’s lap where he currently resides napping. And though he was definately spooked, there’s no seizures or anything going on. His appetite is normal, this fuckin cat can eat, and we gave him a couple of small pieces of corned beef to welcome him back from trying to defy the law of gravity.
At any rate, that was the big exciting thing that happened around here today. Cat took a leap off a second story window and used up one of his nine lives. We’re just glad he’s ok. Maybe it was the catnip that made him do it.

Cats are amazing, no? Glad to hear that had a happy ending! May you all have many happy years of purring, meowing, kneading, and cat-astrophes ahead!
